About
Hi, my name is Kara Wieler.  I am a Southern Manitoba Photographer specializing in wedding/portrait/fine art photography and based in Winkler, Manitoba.   This blog was created so that I could have a place to showcase my work, my passion.  Every image holds a place in my heart.  Take a look around and get a feel for who I am, and how I see.   Please feel free to leave comments or contact me if you are interested in booking me for your next photo session in Southern Manitoba.
Jacquie was referred to me by not only one, but two randomly mutual friends.  It's a long story, but anyway...  After meeting her briefly at our mutual friend Carly's wedding, and talking over many, many emails, I already felt like I knew her.  After spending three hours with she and Mike wondering all over Winnipeg for their Engagement Session, I felt like we were friends.

On to the wedding!  Mike and Jacquie wed on a gorgeous afternoon in July.  Every detail was thought out, and Jacquie knew exactly what she wanted, right down to the circular set up ceremony.  I was amazed at the confidence they had in me when it came down to the photography, especially location choice!  After I came up with some ideas, Mike and Jacquie drove around town checking out my locations.  They were honest, they had their doubts about my favorite spot, but they trusted me.  Hopefully they'll feel it paid off!  They were a dream to work with, giving me total creative control, and ample time to work with.  It was a dream!!!

Mike and Jacquie, I hope you love your photos as much as I loved taking them!

August 18, 2009 // Engagement
Cara just emailed me.  She's having just one of those days.  After reading my last little post, she was super hopeful my next post would be at least a sneak peek of her and Brad's engagement session.  Well, I have had my share of bad days, and sometimes the smallest thing can turn it all around.  Wish I had them all ready Cara, but hopefully this will help!

August 16, 2009 // Lifestyle
When I was in grade 1 and my oldest sister Krista was in grade 6, the grade 6 class put on a Haunted House for Halloween.  I remember how excited we were as our class lined up to go through, finally our turn!  The room was dark, and there were tunnels to crawl through, slimy peeled grapes to put your hands in, and ghosts wondering around the room.  I clearly remember  the sounds as a tape of eery music played as I crawled my way through the tunnels made of cardboard boxes.  Somewhere in the middle of my tour something jumped out at me in the darkness, just a friendly grade 6 student with face paint I'm sure, but it scared my little 6 year old self right out of my socks!  I cried, and cried, and cried!  My sister's classmates rushed to find her and she came running, ready to console me and wipe away my tears.

Growing up my older sisters were like my second and third mother.  They were there for every scraped knee and lonely day at recess.  They braided my hair and taught me silly dances, and how to play hopscotch.  My younger sister was my best friend and my partner in crime.  All three of them of course also helped me develop a thicker skin, as they taunted and teased.  I'm still the most sensitive one, but imagine how bad I would be had I had no one to teach me to take it!

That said, when Holly contacted me about doing a sister shoot, I was all over it!  I know first hand how special the bond between sisters is, and the opportunity to capture this for them was not one I was going to pass up!  These girls had fun written all over them.  When I suggested a theme they were more than excited to think something up.  I love that they took an idea and ran with it, right down to the last detail.

Holly and Heidi are lucky to have each other.  Being born with a built in best friend is such a special gift!

 Enjoy the photos ladies!!

August 12, 2009 // Wedding
They met through Andre's brother and Christine's best friend, who happen to now be married, to each other.  They dated a while, and met each others families, and everything seemed as it should be.  The timing perhaps was just not quite right, and they broke up.  Andre's mom teared up as she and Christine recounted the story at the salon the morning of the wedding.  She was as sure then as she is now that Christine was the right woman for her son.  Sure enough, she was right.

Andre and Christine wed on a beautiful day in July.  One of few! The ceremony was a reflection of the couple themselves, focusing on God, and love, and music and worship.  Their vows were unique, personal, and so heart felt.  There were more than a few teary eyes as they exchanged the words that would tie them together forever.

Christine is blessed to have a man that will always look at her with that sparkle in his eye, and Andre is so lucky to have a girl that lights up every room she enters.  Oh, and now Christine's best friend is her sister in law.  That's pretty lucky too!
